Fleming & DeLaine Funeral Home and Chapel is a family owned business established in 1948.
We take pride in the name Fleming and DeLaine, where both families were courageous leaders involved in the history of the Civil Rights Movement in Clarendon County, which eventually lead to the May 17, 1954, decision outlawing racial segregation in the public schools United States of America.
Lillian Fleming-DeLaine and her husband Robert C. DeLaine, brother of The Reverend J.A. DeLaine, were the first directors.
Billie Fleming, son of Lillian Fleming, joined the firm after serving as a Lieutenant in the United States Navy during World War II.
Prior to his death in 1992, Billie and his wife Marjorie served as directors of the firm for several years. After Billie’s death, Marjorie continued to serve as director along with their two sons, Robert (Bobby) Fleming and Billie Fleming, Jr. and the late Bro. Johnny Wilson.
